New Year, New Theme!
January 5, 2018
Wow it's weird to be typing 2018... anyway, we have a new theme with some fancy stuff, but some of it is still broken. Also the email field for guests appears again, I'll fix it eventually.

Embers // Afterlife Fantasy

Welcome to the first day of your new life. Embers is an afterlife fantasy cyberpunk RPG, running since 2006, first under the name War Chain, and then under the name Tamashii no Chikai, originally as a Bleach RP. Some Bleach influence still remains, but it is all presented differently and features new elements. The recent 2016 reboot under the name Embers follows a very similar standard and focus that War Chain and Tamashii no Chikai did, and we hope Embers will grow into its own free of its fandom ties. Here's to 157,000 more posts!
Mature themes, half the board is gay. Not recommended for bigots or individuals under 16 years of age. You must be 18 or older to gain access to the mature boards.

Lucain, Heru

Heru Lucain Offline Valhalir // Lenara 730 HP 544 Years Male Eleventh Division Seat 05 Rider Council Member Vreyinth Starfire Marat Al'iilhia
Lucain, Heru Oct 12, 2017, 02:38PM // 801 Words
Heru is extremely intelligent, occasionally to the level of having issues understanding emotions because they make no logical sense. It's not always an issue because for the most part he is aware that emotions don't make sense and he doesn't really try to process them in a logical way. ... But this is only helpful to a certain degree.

On the other hand, despite occasionally being confused by them, he's not actually terrible at expressing them with people that he genuinely cares about - family, close friends, or his chosen lover, for example. Heru can also be shockingly sentimental, often keeping small gifts or similar merely because of the person they came from. He's got an origami crane that Arion sent him while he was missing with about 5 words on it and Heru kept it.

He has a thick streak of curiosity and it can get him into trouble because sometimes Heru doesn't always consider the ethical implications of what he's doing before he does it. He does try to listen to input from his family, if they think it's a really terrible idea though, so there's that. It should be noted that the issue is not that Heru doesn't have a moral compass - because he does - no one raised in a family like the Lucains would survive long without a compass of some form. The problem lies more in that he gets caught up in the what-if part of things to the point where sometimes the red flags don't go off until someone else points them out to him. Essentially he sometimes focuses on the details, the threads in the tapestry, so much that he doesn't see the actual picture they're making.

Heru does have a bit of a hard time meeting new people, sometimes. He can come off as a touch arrogant and does have a thread of temper. He's got little patience for fools, and stupid actions will be met with the reaction that whatever consequence they got was deserved. Heru has far more tolerance where older friends or family members are concerned. The other issue with making friends is the fact that he stays relatively busy working and doesn't take much time off to socialize.

He might go out occasionally when a brother or a friend drags him off, but otherwise he's working, or at home making notes on something. Occasionally he can be found in the ninth division's tea house though.

As mentioned, Heru has a bit of a hard time making friends - he's not nearly as adept at it as some of his family members. He probably does have some though - people he grew up with or went to academy with. Heru really does need friends though, despite possible implications otherwise. He doesn't do alone very well and his friends and family serve to anchor him in the here and now so he doesn't get too deeply embedded in whatever it is he's doing this time to actually live a little.

There are probably a few who feel like Heru has snubbed them or something similar - likely he didn't mean to, but perception is everything. Heru doesn't actually consider much of anyone to be his enemy, but if you hurt his family, that could change.

Heru is very gay - though he is not actually consciously aware of the fact because honestly he's never thought about it - he's never had to. He likes who he likes, and that's all that ever has mattered, gender wasn't ever something he worried about with his family. It just happens that he only people he's ever liked have been male, and really, that's okay. He's also an extremely loyal partner and not the sort to gain and lose attachment easily. He may not be great at emotions at the start, but once he's got them sorted out he's going to keep track of what he wants. Uh, he's actually got a small streak of poly in there too, though he likely wouldn't be the one to bring it up first.
