Embers // Afterlife Fantasy

Welcome to the first day of your new life. Embers is an afterlife fantasy cyberpunk RPG, running since 2006, first under the name War Chain, and then under the name Tamashii no Chikai, originally as a Bleach RP. Some Bleach influence still remains, but it is all presented differently and features new elements. The recent 2016 reboot under the name Embers follows a very similar standard and focus that War Chain and Tamashii no Chikai did, and we hope Embers will grow into its own free of its fandom ties. Here's to 157,000 more posts!
Mature themes, half the board is gay. Not recommended for bigots or individuals under 16 years of age. You must be 18 or older to gain access to the mature boards.

Dragons at one time lived on earth, but like the dinosaurs, they eventually died off in the living world, and instead their race continues as a spirit race. Dragons have evolved since they died off in the living world, and are now a bit different than the stories on earth paint them.

History

It is said the first dragon was born when the gods created them. Even many dragons question this mythology, because it does not align with what is known of Ragnarok, albeit it is unknown how the dragon race may have survived Ragnarok when so many other dinosaurs did not. Dragons were an evolved species of dinosaur, that evolved underwater, surviving the KT event, and then came to live on land again, re-evolving the land adaptations they had before. It is thought to be from dragons that humans discovered fire.

Eventually, however, their scuffles with the humans led to them eventually dying out in the living world, and continuing their race instead on the other side of the binary. Dragons are now part of what keeps the spiritual balance in check, by only being capable of being born in Asgard, albeit there are several dragons and flights that eventually returned to the other realms.

Where there is life, there is dragon, even if you cannot see them.

Age and Development

Dragons age somewhat sporadically. They reach maturity seemingly whenever they feel like doing so. Dragons do lay eggs, and these eggs need to be kept warm, but how many, how often, and when, is seemingly random. Dragons appear to operate on a Force-fusion breeding technique, whereby they create a new life by first creating a Force-based container (body) for it to exist in.

Unlike most races, dragons are not named by their parents; instead, they choose their own name when they reach maturity. Dragons also do not seem to have a binary concept of biological sex, and either one can breed, and they may change gender completely at random. As a result of this, dragons do not tend to use gender-specific pronouns, and their children are called strictly neutral names and pronouns until they develop a gender and choose a name. Similarly, they do not have colouration until maturity, when their personality has developed enough to generate a colour of their Force; thereby, their Force causes their colour, and until then, they are "albino" or "white."

Albino dragons are rare, and only occur when a dragon has too many personality traits for their Force to be a single colour. They tend to be multicoloured, very pale, with a pearlescent sheen. If one remains albino, they are considered blessed, and it is a grave crime in Kazanic society to attempt to harm an albino dragon.

Factions, Groups, and Organisations

Dragons are arranged into groups called flights, led by a wingleader, and the two co-wingleaders below them. There are no rankings, they're simply arranged by seniority; every member of a flight carries their own weight, whatever it is they're good at and enjoy that will help the flight, that is their job. Flights are democratic, truly so, as each member of a flight has say in what decisions are made for it.

Powers and Abilities

While their living counterparts needed to consume platinum ore in order to generate flame, their spiritual extant species does not need to do this, and instead generate flame with Force manipulation. As such, their flame can be any colour. Similarly, dragons are among the most capable at Force manipulation, able to change their appearance at will within a short time span, even fully shifting back and forth between dragon and a human appearance within a few seconds, and they are among the most talented Forcers.

Interestingly, dragons can generate daemons, but they do not tend to, for some reason. Dragons are also the only race capable of Bonding, a sort of tying together of two souls. The two parties become dragon and rider, connected in a manner similar to how a valhalir is connected to their daemon, capable of sensing each other's emotions, thoughts, and physical reactions. It is intended the two work together as one; perhaps this is why a dragon never generates a daemon. They bond, instead.

Relations with Other Races

Rarely will a race not like dragons, but it does happen sometimes. Dragons are relatively intelligent, however, and typically rather calming presences, and it is difficult for even seekers to be very vicious toward them.
