Embers // Afterlife Fantasy

Welcome to the first day of your new life. Embers is an afterlife fantasy cyberpunk RPG, running since 2006, first under the name War Chain, and then under the name Tamashii no Chikai, originally as a Bleach RP. Some Bleach influence still remains, but it is all presented differently and features new elements. The recent 2016 reboot under the name Embers follows a very similar standard and focus that War Chain and Tamashii no Chikai did, and we hope Embers will grow into its own free of its fandom ties. Here's to 157,000 more posts!
Mature themes, half the board is gay. Not recommended for bigots or individuals under 16 years of age. You must be 18 or older to gain access to the mature boards.

Extremely skittish and easy to upset, scare, and freak out, that's Kenjira. She's had a pretty rough life and isn't terribly interested in making it any worse, so she tries to keep to herself and avoid other people where she can. Still, there is the part of her that wants to interact with someone else again, so given enough time, I think she'd warm up to someone as long as they didn't prove to be a threat.

Aside from being a giant anxious basket-case, Kenjira's usually a relatively placid and go with the flow type. While she'll freak out at the smallest of things, she tries to keep her head on straight and generally isn't very picky about too many things. What friends she does find are very important to her, to keep her grounded and rooted in reality, because her paranoia can get rather... messy. Very messy. She's flighty and it takes a lot to make her stand her ground, but when really pushed and backed into a corner, she will do just that, and tends to be rather dangerous when she does.

Sometimes she's pretty decent at advice, as she has a very unique way of thinking about things, even for a dragon, but she generally won't randomly offer this council; it should be asked for. Kenjira's typically rather reliable and down to earth. She thinks in practicality and dependability, but very much shies away from confrontation and contradiction. She also really hates the spotlight and much prefers to blend in. Kenjira is a bronze dragon.

Friends
While making friends with her may be hard, proving not to be a threat and then continuing not to be one will eventually do it. She likes her space and security, and so long as she is left that, she will eventually come out of her shell. She likes to be a rock for her friends, a pillar of strength and level-headedness they can turn to when they need it, just like she also expects them to be for her. But her friends, being as they are very few in number, are very important, and she may go well out of her way to see to it they're okay.

Because of her intense anxiety problems, this may amount essentially to fretting and doting, but she really means well. Just, one may need a little patience and to often reassure her. Being honest with her is the best thing to be, even though it seems relatively counter-productive. Talk to her and be honest if there's something bothering you, because she doesn't want to be a bother to you, and will appreciate the honesty more than trying to hide annoyance. After all, she can't fix it if she doesn't know about it, and she'll be honest with you the same way.

Enemies
I doubt she has any enemies, really. Most probably have no idea she exists, and she's just fine with that.

Lovers
This is a tough one. She may eventually fall in love again, but it'll be a slow-burner, take some time, and need a very solid foundation of trust. So don't skip that. Kenjira's technically pan, but I don't really see her getting interested in a girl. She is definitely not polyamorous.

"Yanno, these might make good throw toys." And Shey picked up the circular metal, and tossed it. It caught on a tree branch. "... I think I invented a new game." Squeeeee bouncebounce running off to go get it and toss it again.
Blink. Giggling, yes, Kenjirath was giggling. "Ah, well that's one thing to do with 'em."
"Suppose we could always melt them back down and turn em into something else but this is kinda fun." Toss~.
"Everything's fun to you."
"Except mud. Mud's not fun. It gets in between my scales and yuck." Yes.
Bemused.

"Well, no more bracelets, ahmma go get booze," and Suyis flounced that way.
Inxae shook her head. "I'd say he should be banned from booze, but that usually doesn't end well." Usually not, no.
"The crazy voices in his head like boozies," Shey nod nodded.
"Oh, look they got the bonfire going," and Kenji bouncebounced and went that way.
"... bonfire time apparently." Apparently. Inxae shuffled that way. Er... hmm... momentary debating if she could get Momo off her without waking the kid up. Ah, because the festivities might wake it up too. Hmmm...

"Ehh, I love you butt-faces too. Dunno why." Eyebrow arch.
"Because it's in the rulebook," Suyis snorted.
"... really? You got a rulebook? Totally unfair." Pout.

"I might venture to say, I think our celebrating is going to be extra lively today," Calan smirked.
"Ooooh yes." Kenjirath nod nod nodded. Yes, very lively today. Super lively. ... ah, and shifting back, and clothes, okay. "I'm surprised you didn't do that, too."
"Want to?" Calan asked, dangling his now-empty bracelet.
"... oooo... thy tempt me..."
"I'll do it~!" And Shey snagged it, shifted, and beat the crap out of that one too.

"Haha, apparently, we're celebrating Day of the Ancestors by offering them sacrifices of mithril bracelet," Inxae giggled.
"They'll be very pleased," Kenjirath nodded.

"Yeah!" Shey protested. ... and then she pouted. "Heeey."
Suyis just ruffled her hair. Shey, of course, grumbled in unhappiness.

And and watching, yes. Because this was actually a little neat. Or Kenjirath was odd. Probably a little of both, to be totally honest. Oo... and wince. Ow. ... but it went - heeeee grinning. Look, hadn't seen THAT in a while... forgot how pretty it was. Swirls of bronze and a slight touch of ice blue. That was her name. Yep.

... and... SQUEEEE hugging Edornis and Asie. Suyis, of course, started giggling, and Inxae was a little too. And then Kenjirath went to bouncebouncing and hugging Isao and kissing his cheek. ... and apparently it didn't register. At least not right off, that she'd seriously just - because she slid the metal off his arm, shuffled that way, shifted, and proceeded to beat it into pieces on the ground. Course, this ended with her scattering mithril and glass shards all over the place, but at least she was far enough away, she didn't hurt anyone?

"YEAH, DEATH TO THE MITHRIL THING!" Inxae giggled.
"Well, if I was her, I'd probably do that first thing too," Shey said.
"Yeah, so would I, I think." Seriously.

Annd it was broke. Thoroughly broke. Breeeeathe. "... that felt good." No, really.

Yeah, he'd noticed. He just made a grumbling noise, rather than answering. Well, Calan was a little on the depressed side, of course. Honestly, it was a miracle he hadn't already died, as his Rajin had been in there for a good while now. Then again, he hadn't been Bonded to that one very long.

Hmm. "Well, it's a good thing somebody can finally get rid of those things," Inxae murmured. Seriously though.
"There was a way to get 'em in there, it stood to reason there'd be a way to get them back out. Just, nobody figured out how."
Suyis, of course, giggled at Shey. "Since when did you pay attention to reason?"
"Shaddaaaap."

Meep. Ah... but Kenji was excited too. ... hugging Isao's other arm, the one without the bracelet on it. Yes. Because eeeeee! But eeeeek! ... hmm. Only a very slight difference there. Interesting...

Mm. Calan didn't respond to that, just made an odd noise and sat down on his haunches, watching. Arcane Force was always interesting to watch anyway, and Calan was curious. Ah, and when it flashed purple, Calan winced a little. Oi, that hurt a bit. Not that he was surprised in the least, he'd actually been expecting a bit of discomfort.

Ah... blink. Hmm. "Well, either it did or it did a very good job pretending it did." Hmm. And Calan tapped his bonding tendrils against one another. And they glowed, as if readying to bond again. Ah. "Yes, yes it did." Smiley face. "Thank you." Fff, the only problem was, now his head hurt a little worse than it had before, since his Rajin was where it was supposed to be. Mrr. Well, he'd get used to it again.

And Kenjirath smacked him. "And now you should be thinking about putting it on someone else."
Calan made a face.
"Don't give me that look. Mine is still IN it and I gave it to someone. People here aren't that bad. Just have to be a bit careful is all."
"Oh, actually, I know a few you might take a liking to," Suyis offered. "I'll drag you around later."
Grooooan. "Now I'll never hear the end of this huh."
"Nope nopey nope," Shey very cheerfully confirmed.

... fuck his life.

Hrn. "Well, aside from waiting and hoping someone else with a bracelet pops up, or attempting to somehow replicate it without actually replicating it, I got nothin'." Nope.
Ah... and Calan, about there, moved his tail in front of him, shook it, and out from under his scales slid a bracelet. "Try that one."
Blink. "I didn't know you had -"
"Not many do." Dragon-y shrug.
"... Does Shieth know that?"
"Nope. ... and I'd appreciate no one telling him. Or anyone, really, it'd be easier on the Flight if I just pffth I dunno what happened."
... sad face.
"Oh don't make that face. I'm nearly a thousand years old, it's about time I moved on anyway. So if they screw up terribly, no real loss." Not really.

Ffft. He needed a mate or something.

Hmm. "It's worth a try isn't it?" Or Kenjirath was insane, either one.
"I'm relatively sure he'd appreciate having a Talarin when they're done," Suyis pointed out.
Hrrn. "Well no risk no gain, yes?"
Pfft. "That's the first time I've ever heard a Vasi say that." No, really.
Eyebrow arch.

"It comes from the Kasvetli," Inxae nod nodded.
Haha. "Actually, probably does."
"The only other idea I've got is poking Ieldana or Nysen about it," Suyis added. "Um, but they might not really have the leisure for it." Considering the world was presently apparently nigh going boom and all.
Mrr. "Not that I'd really want to bother the gods about it," Kenjirath pouted.
"Then I guess we're going to pray apparently." Yes, apparently. "And figuring out how to do it would enable repeats later on. I'm sure you're not the only one with a bracelet still." Yeah, pretty sure.
"Bracelets are stupid." Jussayin.
Hahaha. Well, yes.

Hehe, there he was. "Asiiiieeeee~!" And Suyis toddled over there and hugged. Yes.
D'aww. That was cute. They're mated. Yes.
"Well, what a little crowd we've got going," ah, that voice belonged to a massive amethyst.
"CALAN!" CLING!
"Whoa, hi." Amused. "I missed you too." But he was pleased to note she seemed to be doing much better now.
"Hehe. Oh, this is Isao. My Talar." Beeeam.
Hmm. "I vaguely remember him. Nice to meet you officially." A little head dip. Vasi version of a bow, yes.

Ah, and a bow at Shey and Edornis too, as they got over here. "Morning you two," Calan greeted.
"Hihis!" Yes. "See! Issyjissydizdoo." Yes.
Kenjirath made a face. "Isao."
"That's what I said."
... no... it really wasn't...
"Just roll with it," Suyis suggested.
... okay. Haha.

"Oh, now that you're both here," Suyis started, "the thing is kind of in a thing and either of you got any idea how to get it out of the thing?" Pointing at the bracelet.
... bemuuused.
And Calan perked up a little. Kind of hoped they did know, yes.

"Yes, yes there do be," Shey snickered. "His name is Issyjissydizdoo." Yes. Okay no but Edornis was accustomed to her awkward nicknames and knew to take that with a grain of salt and actually ask what his name is - someone besides her. Yes. Flouncing off that way toward where they were.

Er. And probably awkward-like, Kenji noticed the shrink which made her notice the glare. And she legit growled at the Shade.
"Whoa, hey, down kitty." Wow. "... apparently one you like."
"... wait what?"
"Bracelet." Pointing.
Oh. "Speaking of, you're intelligent, I hear. Any idea how to get it OUT?"
Ah... "That'd be something to maybe ask Edornis or Asie because I can get it out but Ieldana and Nysen will probably put me on a rack for it." Seriously.
Blink. "Right, Shade Force."
"Yes, very bad juju." Yes. "Asie here yet?"

"Nope," Inxae answered. "You beat him here."
Aha. "Well he is in a slightly busier division than mine." Yeah, tad.
"Which one?"
"I'm in five, he's in seven."
Oooh... "Yeah... I can see that." Yes.

"So, note to self, don't glare at that one eh?" Apparently.
Annnd Kenjirath turned pink. Yes.

And Shey of course bouncebounced over to Edornis and tug tugged his sleeve. "Dorny, come meet the new Talaryguy." Yes.

Heh. "Yeah. Still manages to stun me how busy they get sometimes. In my head, Jiva's this superhuman guy of awesomeness."
Giggle. "Well, he gets close at least."

"Mm, well, getting used to it is a good thing. Sooner or later, it'll be like second nature. You know, Shey and Edornis both say sometimes it's hard to tell what's them and what's the other one." Bemused.
"You know, that thought's almost scary," Kenji murmured. Just a little.
"I imagine it is a little. Hmm. Ahh, there's the asshat."
"Love you too Inxy," Suyis replied, toddling over and hugging her neck. ... gently, because small thing. "Napping against mom's scales. Always the best naps ever."
Amused. "Suyis, Isao, Isao, Suyis. Kenjirath, I'm not sure if you've met her either."
"Ah, no, that I didn't." Smiley face. ... slight glare at the bracelet, but he didn't say anything. "Everyone still sleeping?"
"Not everyone. Might want to go help with the bonfire."
"Oh goodie," Suyis snickered. "Send the nutcase to go play with FIRE."
Ahaha.

Mm. "Baby's usually pretty well-behaved, for a baby. But baby's not had a nappy today. Not much good for little developing ones." Not typically no.
"And you said you'd be a crappy mom~" Shey teased.
"Miraculously, I seem to have found some semblance of maternal instinct." Dragon-y eyebrow arch. Somehow.
"Oo, you prolly wanna be meetses Dornyjizzle. DORNYY!!" And Shey shot off that way, presumably to go get 'Dornyjizzle'.
Inxae, for her part, just shook her head. "We're a little early, apparently. The Flight's not quite all woken up yet."
Oooh. "Makes sense." Yes.
"Though, usually Jeranith and Jiva are the first ones here. Awkward that we beat them for once."
Giggling. "Well, they've got stuff to do probably." Yeah, probably.

"So, how goes the bonded thing? Getting the hang of it?" Curious how it was working out for the Diablo, yes. Jiva did just fine with it, but, well, Jiva... was a very special snowflake. Ha.

Skip skipping off this way. "Well, glad it's good instead of annoying?" That was a good thing, yes. Not that she really expected she could actually manage to annoy him, at this point. Which, that was still an odd thought. So, apparently, no, it really was just all Telian. Not to say she was in any way surprised.

Fortunately, they weren't too far away. And it only took a few minutes to get there. "Lots of singing and dancing and talking and storytelling. Ooo, story time." She'd heard all the stories already, but they were still neat to revisit.

And getting pounced on by Shey. "YOU'RE HEEEEERE."
Blink. "Yes?"
"Oo, dis is the guy?" Peeeer. "... looks like a Sieral."
Snort. "I thought that too. Isao. Isao, this is Sheyanth." Yep. Er, "And that's Inxae over there." In Vasi form, with a small child strapped to her neck. Dead asleep. Hahaha.
"Nice to meet you," Inxae said. "I'd... you know bow but I don't... wanna jostle the Momo." Nope.
"Is so cuuuute when is dead sleepy bye d'awwwww, shame kids don't sleep forever."
"Well if they did, that'd be very concerning." Indeedies.
Amuuused.

"Suyis and Asie should be here too. They're neat to talk to. ... Suyis is a little freaky, but he's actually very brilliant. Shey's older brother. Last Shade I mentioned." Yes.

Hehehe. "Good morning." Yes, very good morning. "I'm excited, can you tell?" Probably, actually. It wasn't like she was glowing or anything, but, she was kind of glowing a bit. Well, the Day of the Ancestors was a very important day indeed. A little on the late side, maybe, but they hadn't really been entirely sure how this dimension's days lined up with Yanan's, so, that ended in them being a tad late.

The ancestors would understand, she was sure. "Always a lot of fun. Vasi are all about celebrating their lives rather than mourning their deaths. Death's a natural thing and all." Yes, it was, and being sad over the inevitable, well... it made sense, but, the Vasi saw it as a good thing. It meant one was progressing.

Mm. Now, if she could see it that way with... that one was a little harder. But he wasn't an ancestor, so she didn't have to deal with it just yet.
