Embers // Afterlife Fantasy

Welcome to the first day of your new life. Embers is an afterlife fantasy cyberpunk RPG, running since 2006, first under the name War Chain, and then under the name Tamashii no Chikai, originally as a Bleach RP. Some Bleach influence still remains, but it is all presented differently and features new elements. The recent 2016 reboot under the name Embers follows a very similar standard and focus that War Chain and Tamashii no Chikai did, and we hope Embers will grow into its own free of its fandom ties. Here's to 157,000 more posts!
Mature themes, half the board is gay. Not recommended for bigots or individuals under 16 years of age. You must be 18 or older to gain access to the mature boards.

Sometimes, Kassander is the epitome of a well-spoken man. He's good at articulating in a refined manner, and at least sounding like he has some vague idea of what he's talking about. Typically he does, at least, actually have some semblance of an idea of what he's on about, he's just not terribly interested in sharing this detail. Most, however, will eventually have a hard time with him, at least to some extent, as he does so enjoy messing with people's heads, and it can be immensely difficult to figure out if he's just messing with you, or if he's serious. Kassander isn't ever outright malicious, at least, not unless you press a lot of buttons, really fast, and everything he does and says is for a reason. Either he's just bored and you're entertaining when you flail gracelessly, or there's something you need to learn that he feels he can teach you.

His methods of teaching are pretty subtle. You have to really squint at him and what he does and says to get a grip on what he means, because like hell is he spelling it out for you. Even things that seem to just be jabs at your pride, or harsh teasing, can occasionally turn out to have deeper meaning. Often, his methods work, provided someone is willing to internally reflect enough to figure it out, but it's not his problem if it doesn't work, now is it? Sounds personal to him. Kassander never aims to cause serious, measurable damage, and his teasing is never too harsh, at least, not with people that can't tolerate it and see past the harsh jabs to find the advice underneath. He does care, a lot more than he lets on, but he will fuck with you.

A master of control, Kassander keeps his true feelings and thoughts veiled behind a thick curtain of snark and sarcasm. He seems to speak two languages: Latin and sarcasm. Mind, he's sort of picking up on basic English, and knows a few phrases in some other languages, but he speaks an old dialect of Latin, and that's it. If you learn to pay attention to him, however, you might be able to make some at least vague sense out of his looks and glares. He has a glare for every occasion, and he does speak to some extent with body language. For most, though, he's a very closed book with very sharp thorns around the edges. If you ask, sometimes he'll tell you, but typically not directly, and he's more likely to answer the question with another question, or redirect it, or some such. He has friends, and he'll talk to them, but beyond that, he doesn't bother. Most can easily mistake him as being very open about his feelings, because he seems to show them very readily, but it is a very small fraction of them that he'll show.

With someone as snappy and sarcastic as he is, one would expect his anger to run hot; actually, it runs cold. You really know you've messed up with him when he turns to ice, and ignores you. Kassander is rather talkative, can be approachable, it's not rare that he's more unnerving than anything, impetuous, impatient, snarky, sarcastic, blunt, occasionally quite abrasive, temperamental, and he can be relatively aggressive, but never mistake him for a fool, for this will be the last mistake you make. He is immensely intelligent, some have called him a genius before, and there is very little he can't figure out. Highly observant, as well, Kassander usually catches on and pretty quickly to the things that people don't say. That was his life, once; until you've played the games of Rome, you know nothing. Kassander knows quite a few things about what people don't say.

Despite how intimidating and grating he can be, Kassander truly cares about others. He's also very afraid of being alone, and feels like loneliness is the worst thing to feel. This is how he ended up with his alleged army out there in Sheol. He isn't actually aiming to create an army or anything, simply, he wants to give those that have no other options a place to go, and if it means the valhalir side-eye him very hard, fine. He'll deal with that. He helps others, but usually in a way that makes them question their sanity. All in all, you hardly have to reach for him, before he's reaching back, and he's been known to help people find their way when they're lost, even if they don't realise he's doing it.

Above all else, Kassander is a light. A light that guides, if one needs him to. A light that is always there, until one turns away from him. But just remember, lights can be searing and deadly lights, too.

Friends
It takes a lot to become someone Kassander considers a friend. Once you're there, however, you'd have to do something immensely terrible for him to change his mind, and he is very loyal to his friends. He can be much kinder, gentler, more open, but only to those he cares for very deeply and trusts very implicitly. Those that manage to get on that short list are few and far between, but perhaps the work is worth it, as Kassander is a very good friend to have.

He has probably a very small number of truly good friends, but he'll have a much higher number of those he is defensive of, or otherwise values the existence of, even if he's not very tight with them.

Enemies
He has few left. One could consider the leader of the Azure Eagles his enemy, and when he finds out he's alive, Kassander will, too, but, for now, all his enemies are somewhere else, or gone.

Lovers
Hahaha. Ha. Haaaa. No. I mean, good luck, I guess, but you're not Hasan, you'll never be Hasan, and Kassander doesn't have time for anyone that's not Hasan.
