Embers // Afterlife Fantasy

Welcome to the first day of your new life. Embers is an afterlife fantasy cyberpunk RPG, running since 2006, first under the name War Chain, and then under the name Tamashii no Chikai, originally as a Bleach RP. Some Bleach influence still remains, but it is all presented differently and features new elements. The recent 2016 reboot under the name Embers follows a very similar standard and focus that War Chain and Tamashii no Chikai did, and we hope Embers will grow into its own free of its fandom ties. Here's to 157,000 more posts!
Mature themes, half the board is gay. Not recommended for bigots or individuals under 16 years of age. You must be 18 or older to gain access to the mature boards.

Helloooo!
Do you remember me?
It's your conscience talking, and we need to have a chat.
Listen, I know you like working and all that... but you know what'd be great?
A break!
Breaks are so good, I love them. You should try them.
Have you tried them? Do you know what they are?
If I tried, I could probably locate a dictionary for you.

Narcissa kind of lives up to her name; she's a bit ditsy, a little air-headed, and a bit self-centred. The good news is, she means well, and is still capable of putting others before herself. Usually, she doesn't have much trouble with it, but it really depends on the person and the situation; sometimes, her actions aren't as altruistic as they seem. She's very chipper and upbeat, and can be a bit of a whirlwind sometimes, if she gets on a subject and doesn't decide to let it go eventually, so perhaps a little bit of an ADHD-like deal. She's even easily distracted, but primarily just very hyperactive and excitable.

She does have some very deep-set fears and odd reactions to varying things. There are some weird phobias, like a fear of having too much power, strange for a Livia but still present, and probably even some inferiority complex re: Metella she hasn't figured out is there. More than she's afraid of having too much power, she's afraid of losing her sister, again, only this time, to herself, and it's a very real concern given Laelia doesn't really see herself as a person, only as a weapon. It seems kind of fitting, then, that her sister happened to come back as a daemon. She makes a decent friend, at least, and can genuinely care about others, it just takes a bit more time for her than for most. She can be oddly cold and calculating sometimes, but it's more likely to be hidden behind a mask of bouncy ditz.

Narcissa's often so out of it and airy, she seems maybe not all there. It's true. Some part of her mind has gone, but you never really notice the full extent of how much it broke until she's in a situation where she needs to physically defend herself. Political and social game is second nature to any Livia, that's nothing, but violence triggers probably some form of PTSD and causes her sense to vaguely go. This is a good bit of why she's afraid of having power, because she could easily misstep and misuse it, and she knows it. Mind, however, despite how she actually is kind of cracked in the head, and not all her marbles are in order, actually she's probably lost several, she's actually much more intelligent and far wiser than she lets on, a fact that is easy to miss, as she doesn't let this side of her show easily.

If she talks to you, really talks to you, you'd probably better listen, because she didn't make it over two thousand for nothing.

Friends
Her friends probably started out people that were most convenient to hang around, and or were somehow beneficial for her to hang around. She's a slight girl and not really about physical violence or confrontation, so she probably has a friend or two that are basically around because she needed somebody bigger than her to punt people for her. Narcissa is very pretty, and it's not hard to imagine she manages to charm guys into playing bodyguard for her.

She's not manipulative in the horrible sense, but she still can be somewhat manipulative, and while she eventually does see her friends as actual friends, they all start out as beneficial accessories. I'm sure some of them didn't stick around long enough to make it to actual friend-status, but I imagine she was and still is very popular among her peers; this by itself probably gained her a fair circle.

Enemies
Sometimes, Narcissa can be outright vindictive and cruel, and anyone that threatens her position as the, in her head, most beloved individual of her peers, probably got extremely viciously torn apart -- but only socially. She's not afraid of stoking the rumour mill and causing intense chaos and ruin for people she doesn't like or see as a problem.

You can kind of think of her as the typical popular girl; she may not actually come to blows with you, but she will embarrass the shit out of you, make your life hell, and probably act like she has no idea why this is happening to you. Certainly she doesn't have anything to do with it. So if you need one of those, and your character's in Valkyrie, Narcissa may be your girl.

Lovers
I see her as the type that tends to have the male populace fawning all over her, but she just uses them essentially to get herself a free drink up at the club, and then drop them like a hot rock. Some, however, she may eventually go back to because they were interesting to talk to or made her laugh, so generally you have a much better chance of remaining a thing, and potentially making it to boyfriend status, if you're at least funny.

She does, at least, have a pretty decently wide range of interests, so it really isn't hard to get her attention and keep it if you can hold a decent conversation. She may not understand everything you say, but she is listening, and this bodes well. If she's had boyfriends, there've probably been very few of them, and they may not have lasted very long. I believe she is polyamorous, but she is also very straight, so I don't think she'd get interested in girls. ... I may be surprised.

Technically she has a boyfriend, but she hasn't seen him in a very long time, and their relationship may not be the same, so it's hard to say what'll happen with them. Still, she hasn't actually moved on, so I suppose that says something.

Reminded him. Since Kasaya thought it was important enough to get up out of bed for, and Suyis wasn't really busy, he'd go bother the other ones that'd never gotten Ascended. No, not really concerned about what it'd do to them, just, eh. There were actually three this way, that he intended to Ascend since he'd just gotten the proverbial green light.

Ahem. So. Just, over here. Yeah. Ahm. Finding Alasdair first. And look, there happened to be a Thetis along with him, cool, knock three out at once.

Ah. "Mind if I borrow you two, for a moment?"
Thetis at least looked a bit confused. "Er... sure?" Okay?
Nodding that way. "Gotta go get Alcides, too." But at least he was pretty static.

2014 / The Hell Just Happened?
« on: Oct 12, 2014, 12:50PM »

Ahhhoow, ow... ow? Was that the term she was looking for? Whatever it was, it hurt. And a little whimpering noise, and she turned over onto her side and curled up, holding her head. That had hurt. That falling thing - falling - she'd fallen out of a tree - where was -

And sitting bolt upright, and whining again, curling up there instead. ... wait, where the hell... ohey this... what was this... staring at the blanket, of course, trying to figure out what it was. But it was really warm and soft. And pulling it up and around herself because that was warm. Okay, now, where the hell were we... because this was not the tree she'd fallen down under...
