Embers // Afterlife Fantasy

Welcome to the first day of your new life. Embers is an afterlife fantasy cyberpunk RPG, running since 2006, first under the name War Chain, and then under the name Tamashii no Chikai, originally as a Bleach RP. Some Bleach influence still remains, but it is all presented differently and features new elements. The recent 2016 reboot under the name Embers follows a very similar standard and focus that War Chain and Tamashii no Chikai did, and we hope Embers will grow into its own free of its fandom ties. Here's to 157,000 more posts!
Mature themes, half the board is gay. Not recommended for bigots or individuals under 16 years of age. You must be 18 or older to gain access to the mature boards.

Kasaya wants to bug you. Because. Reasons.
We both know why.

Probably one of the most enigmatic and somehow otherworldly beings in Valhalla, potentially anywhere, Kasaya is very difficult to pin down. She speaks, at times, in riddles, and is never entirely forthright. Rather, she gives just enough hint that you should be capable of puzzling out what she means on your own, and if you can't do that, well, that's not her problem, now is it? One couldn't call her friendly, however, as she is generally in a good mood, somewhat upbeat, and can lift spirits if she tries, but it's more of a softer, maternal friendliness. Kasaya isn't typically in your face with all the outgoing, she's more like a safe place to shelter from the rain for a bit. Everyone she meets is essentially mothered, but not necessarily overtly, which some may find to be a bit of a blessing, others more of an annoyance. Kasaya is, at least, very good at figuring out when she's not welcome, and removing herself from situations and places that she decidedly is not welcome in, but many have trouble having much issue with her.

No matter how long it's been since last you've spoken, even if you have never spoken at all, she has a way of making you feel like your presence was dearly missed, and that your presence now is a blessing of a form. Kasaya also has a habit of knowing things she shouldn't logically know, but she's fairly good about not being particularly obvious about it. Even though she is a bit of a loner, and prefers to watch rather than take part in things personally, she doesn't really ever give off the impression that someone bothering her is unwelcome. Rather the opposite, she seems to always be waiting for someone to do exactly that, and seems to look forward to it in some capacity.

Kasaya has a brilliant mind. While reserved, it is very clear early on that she's actually quite intelligent, she just sees no reason to flaunt it. She is, though, prone to outbursts of over-emotional episodes, and can become relatively confused from said emotional outbursts. She isn't the best at dealing with her feelings in healthy ways, but all things considered, she could be much worse. Some could potentially see her as a bit of a snob, as she doesn't actually go out of her way to interact with others, and prefers to wait for them to come to her, but she's not terribly arrogant, all things considered. Some may find her relatively intimidating, if only because she's very difficult to get a solid read on, as you never quite know what's going through her head, or how she's feeling. Most of the time, Kasaya's probably overlooked, or seen as that weird wallflower that never seems to have any interest in participating in anything.

Friends
If you can handle the essentially constant mothering, she's not a bad friend to have. Very supportive, and she usually has fairly sound advice for those that need it, she's more than happy to be the pillar of strength for those that need a little guidance. She does okay with those that need a patient and gentle hand, because Kasaya is rarely neither. She actually rather enjoys being a source of support for her friends, and isn't afraid to tell them what really needs to be said, rather than what they want to hear; she just may do it very gently.

However, as she's not really extroverted and more of a wallflower, you may have to talk to her first. Unless she really thinks you need her help.

Enemies
I don't imagine many people really think about her hard enough to consider themselves her enemy, but perhaps some friendly rivalries in the Thirteenth Division may be a possibility. She's an extremely skilled sorcery user, and I'm sure someone out there may want to someday be as good as her, if not surpass her. Just, be prepared for her to encourage this, rather than be annoyed about it or what have you. Kasaya likes to see people grow and learn, even if it's merely because they want to be better than someone else. (It's a goal at least, right?)

Lovers
I do not know that she is poly. She's bisexual, but leans very heavily toward men. Seems to have a thing for someone already. Or at least, she talks like she does, but never says any names, and when asked about it, just kind of smiles.

Good! Will do, then. When threads calm down a little lmao, I will poke Kasaya over to bug Tahsin. =) And we shall see if she can break his walls down a bit.

You. I want to bother you. ... okay, Kasaya wants to bother you. Probably do not want to be bothered, lmao, but you should be. You are saddening and I don't think Kasaya could entirely leave Tahsin alone after Sosuke left, because I think she believes he doesn't talk to his family because they're hurting, too. She is unrelated to it. So maybe some time around her later, and maaaybe Tahsin might talk to her, maybe. Or at least she hopes.

Yeah?

"Dooooo de tiiiiiing." Yes. "Screw berryyyy." Who cared.
Sahura snorted mentally. "It's not like Sojun doesn't get it. It won't hurt anything. Besides, that guy clashes with everybody, even Orihime." For real. "Clashing with the Berry isn't near so bad as clashing with, say... I dunno, Ukitake." That'd just blow people's mind and probably make them hate you. Berry? It was whatever.

"But is not stoppin soon enouuuugh." Flopping onto his shoulder. Fuck life.
"Wouldn't have this problem if you'd bug people," Sahura mentioned.
"Gooooo drink a knife."
"Ew. I'm not fond of the taste of steel, thank you."
... snort. "Can you b'lieve this guy..." Bakaaa.

"Doooooo the thiiiiiing Ineeeeeee. Strawberry can bite iiiiit." Seriously though. Strawberry had nothing on I-have-literally-loved-you-for-two-thousand-years. Seriously. And if he thought otherwise, well, he was a self-centred douche-nargle.
"For the record," Sahura put in, "I agree with the twit. Do the thing, Ine." Really.

Snort. "Ahnope. Cause I dunno when ta quiiii~iiiit." At least she knew that?

Whooooa stuff was movin. ... well yes, that would be Dre. Yes. "Isa dizzyyyy." Really dizzy.

"Nooooo... Ine-nee-chan been doin waaaaaay too much stuffs. All the stuffs, too much stuff-stuff. ... an'needa go talk to Vreeeeyiiiin." Yes. Because Kasaya said. And Kasaya was... well, weird, she knew that, but she meant well, at least.

Huff. "Nooo. Cause... cause I thought of it an'Imma bit impulsive. Chu notice'at?" Hmm. When did she get an impulsive streak... well, to be totally fair, she tended to have one anyway, because. Well. Even as Cassia. Maybe especially as Cassia, because her father never taught her to suppress herself too much.

"Ne, yanno what's weird? My name always start with 'Cass'. Aaaaalways." Weeeeird.

Huff. ... aaaand attempting to get up... and falling back over.

"Apparently, the answer is yes, but I can'geddup." Still trying, mind, but it wasn't working any better than it had the first time. No idea why that'd be.

"And it was kinda important. ... an'everyone else is busyfuls." So... shush. ... "Oh yeaaaah... meant ta do that with you, too." Hmmm. On the bright side, she was Bonded to him and could rather easily just...

And reaching through the Bond and turning Arcane Force on on the other side of it. Yes.

An amused sound. "Ah, but it's also a good thing. Because it means you won't back down. Because it means, even if you may not understand it, there is strength, determination, and resolution in every swing. The ones that have nothing to fight for, well. They've often already lost. And you might deny it if you are so inclined, but you've a good head on your shoulders, as well. You can't really have this argument with me, Shunsui. I've been with you since before you were born, and I know you very well." Very well indeed.

And while one of her most fragmented gems, on the inside, his shine was one of the most brilliant, even if he couldn't see it.

"Saa. Now that we've reached a sort of dead end... Just remember, that the power of Arcane Kidou depends on your heart, and this is true for its strength, as well as its qualities. If you don't find it in you to believe that you can control it, you never will, and it will never be as strong as it should be." If he doubted, he may as well be an Academy student attempting their first Shakkaho.

"I can't promise I'll remain standing after I turn this on, so don't panic. ... not that you'll have much time to, the Crystal should pull you back pretty quick." Relatively. Within fifteen twenty seconds or so, if she was guessing right. So, taking one of his hands, glowing a brilliant silvery-blue. She always heard it tingled, like a warm bubble bath. Haha.

Well, the good news was, she got the dang thing turned on for him. The not so good news was, she was right, and fell over pretty quick afterwards.

An amused sound. "Not despite your own concerns - because of them." Because those that thought they were entitled to power, thought of course they could handle it, those were the ones that weren't and couldn't. Shunsui had never really been particularly power-hungry. And in some sense, he'd watched power-hunger rip Rome apart, never mind the dozens of others over the years, the likes of Kuchiki Kouga, still somewhat watching that sense of entitlement to power destroy Kurosaki.

He'd seen power do both immensely great things, but also horrendously terrible things, and understood the weight of Arcane Force in ways maybe most never really would.

"You can't tell me, as a Captain, you'd have given a Lieutenant badge to someone that, when asked if they could handle it, replied, Of course I can. It's the same principle. The concern shows you're quite aware of the responsibility this carries with it - understand the unspoken commitment and weight accepting it is. And that bodes exceedingly well for managing to bear it with grace. ... and I would point out, you were never really a pissy Spaniard, even back then. More of an extremely defensive Spaniard, and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. Rather, I've found, the fiercest fighters are those with something to defend, a reason besides themselves not to lose." And that, of course, was what made the Sefet en Ra make it as far as they did. It wasn't perfect - they'd still been mortal - but they'd made it so much farther and given Rome so much more hell than any Servile War before them. Almost any war at all.

"If Varro wasn't literally clinging to life by a thread, I'd be having this same conversation with him. It is never the place you come from, the circumstances of birth or the path you've been forced to walk by fate. It is the path you chose, what you build with the bricks you are given. And you, my dear Spaniard, have always been a defender, and a man of good honour. You can deny it, you can cling to the scars life gave you, but, even when angered, when have you ever endangered innocent lives to meet your own ends?" Uh, never.

Mm. A completely, entirely, unsurprising answer. Such was the answer she'd been expecting, and had he answered differently, well. She might've actually killed him, instead, and wondered when Aeon had learned to glamour and fake reiatsu.

"You won't have as long as I want you to, to learn to control it, but just remember that it is the power of your heart, manifested as Kidou. It is a very unique branch of Kidou, basically - unlike the other branches, there are very few set spells. Arcane Kidou can do absolutely anything you can think of; barriers, destructive spells, binding, healing, time-space manipulation, hard light projection, summoning, speed augmentation, disguise and invisibility. It bends reality to its will - if you can dream up a reality in which what you want exists or is possible, it can make it happen. That is part of what makes it so dangerous. It is extremely helpful and good a branch, when used by a pure heart. But in the hands of a twisted and selfish heart, it becomes extremely destructive. Humans began to misuse it, long before Rome, so we shut it off, and give it back to people we believe can comprehend and handle the weight of the responsibility having it presents." Mm.

"In a few days' time, the others that are capable of using Arcane Kidou will be going into Aeon's base, and destroying it from the inside. I thought you might want to go along, and you're old and powerful enough, Arcane Kidou won't rip you apart." Indeed. Which was an important aspect.

A snort. "I said I wasn't going to kill you. I meant it. You're fine. The Keuraijen crystal is a part of this partially to eject your soul and teleport it, and partially to keep your body alive while you're not at home. Afterwards, it's yours, and it will take a shape that reflects who you are. Some suddenly have a new jewellery piece, some find it on their weapon... it depends." No idea what Shunsui's was going to do, but they'd see. "Sahura's turned itself into an earring with a carving of Arisu in it." Bemused.

Mm. No, not surprising. "So if I gave you the power to completely obliterate the entire planet in .2 seconds, do you think you could handle it?" Just, outright asking, because well. Running out of time and her energy was quickly depleting.

Almost wondered if she'd gotten hit with a destabiliser, but she'd worry about that later.

A snort. "I will, eventually." But not right this second. Later. Because there was a tiny bit more important of a thing going on right now, and at least this would give him a few days to get used to Arcane Force before they went blowing up Aeon. And besides, he totally deserved to go blowing it up. Everyone that was going, they lost something or someone important to them - Killian, well, his cousin was all screwed up, Aeon killed Hyozume's wife and one of his daughters, and then Aeon took out Killian's Lieutenant. Asmodeus had lost a son and a sister-in-law, and almost lost his other two sons. Edornis lost his Bonded, and that entire thing started because they decided to fuck with his mate. And then there'd be Shunsui - who... was down a best friend, a boyfriend, almost two of them but Gin was a stubborn thing. All of them had every right to be blasting the fuck out of Aeon, and Arcane Force worked best when it could feed from your heart.

Arcane Force was the manifested power of your heart, of course. That was why it was so dangerous; in the wrong hands, it could wreak total destruction.

Er. ... that was not quite... well, she didn't know what she was expecting - given Civir was down here, too. Euh... and focusing, and teleporting over there. Almost fell over, but she didn't. "Wow, okay, here was not what I was expecting. ... can't say what was on my mind in that regard, but." Eh.

"Usually that will teleport your soul to Civir, but well, Civir's down here, and... ... I think this is actually part of Sarizo - nope, wait, there's a little Civir..." Hmm. Eyeing the ground like what... even.

"Yes, I know," Kasaya snorted, sounding a little bit put upon, "but I won't keel over right this second." Eventually, probably, if she pushed it too far. But that was neither here nor there at this particular, exact moment.

Hn. "It can't. It's already waited too long." So, yeah. "Just, take the thing." Holding out a little gem. It looked like a diamond, slightly sparklier and certainly more glow-y.

"Won't kill you, or me, to just go along with it, for a second, so humour me. Faster you go along with it, the faster I can go back to bed and Andreas can quit unhappy-waving in my head." Yes.
